Loner Alexander Pacteau (inset) repeatedly hit Karen Buckley (right) with a spanner after she left a nightclub in Glasgow in April. He then plotted to get rid of the student's body by dissolving her in caustic soda, which he bought at a nearby shop (pictured left) while her desperate friends and family took part in a huge four-day search. Miss Buckley's family branded 21-year-old Pacteau 'pure evil' and a 'coward' today after he admitted her murder. It can be revealed for the first time that Pacteau, who admitted murder, previously stood trial for attempted rape and sexual assault, but was cleared by a majority verdict.
